Climate anxiety pill
O pastilă pentru anxietate climatică

At the beginning of the year, it was announced that optional modules on environmental and ecological education would be implemented in schools, at national level, starting with the school year 2022-2023. A climate anxiety pill prescribed by the country's president himself, covered in ambitious goals, both in terms of the educational materials that teachers and students would work with, but also in terms of the estimated number of participants for the first year of implementation. This debate aims to bring together teachers, educational experts and environmental experts, representatives of NGOs, but also of educational institutions, in order to reflect on the context in which these modules are to be inserted, as well as on the pedagogical and material resources that could support this plan.
Are the schools sufficiently prepared? How can we teach children and adolescents (part of a generation that is already acutely affected by climate anxiety) in an empathic manner about the worrying predictions of climate research experts? From advice on the importance of recycling to awareness of “the polluter pays” principle, how can we teach young people to act civically and politically to hold accountable the stakeholders responsible for the huge amount of waste currently produced? What existing and tested educational materials can we use? But also - How can we help re-imagine the future by familiarizing ourselves with concepts such as “sustainability” and “circular economy”? We will try to answer these questions and more, in our debate about teaching environmental education in schools.
The event is initiated and organized in partnership with Bloc Zero, an association that works mostly in the field of education through culture.
The event is part of the “ Verde-n față” environmental education program organized by MaiMultVerde Association in partnership with Bloc Zero Association, with the support of HeildelbergCement.
